Looking in the mirror
It isn’t me I see
A reflection
Of imperfection
In a body
It’s all there
With thinning hair
Buyer beware
In a body
I realize I’m not my face,
My age, gender, religion, or race
I’m something vaster that resides in me
I’m spirit unfolding
In a body
Issues with health,
They aren’t me
Or a reflection of what I want to be
Quirky chemistry, demanding simplicity
Yet, when I transgress…
It’s always a mess…health upset
In a body
Speaking of age, watching the fade
It’s comical really.
I’m no more 58, 97, or 3
Never was any age…
None of that’s me
But it’s who I see
In a body
In the marriage between heaven and earth
We agree
“Do you Spirit take this Body?
“Si!”
Time flows,
Health goes,
Age grows
Death throes
In a body
Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
Body to rust
Spirit to heaven
To leaven
The soul
The mystery continues
God unfolds
We play out our roles
In a body
